Storing the data your business uses to operate on a daily basis, or is provided via clients, is an important part of running a company. There are quite a few options for storing data in today’s high-tech world and the most popular ones involve cloud software. When you are trying to choose a place to store your data you need to consider the future and how easy the process needs to be to access the data.

Custom Software

Many companies have the resources and staff available to create their own custom software for storing data like historical option prices. Developing your own proprietary software requires a unique set of skills from employees, so be sure that it can be done before delving into this option.

CRM Software

CRM software, or customer relationship management, have evolved over the years from a simple digital address book to a system that can store data. A CRM program can help your employees store data, sort data, and also perform reporting functions that will be able to look through historical records and more.

Excel

Excel is the most popular route companies take for storing data, especially those that don’t have money in the budget to purchase software. Excel, and its counterpart Google Sheets, can store, sort, and document all types of data for your company. This option is really only for basic data storage, not anything too complex, as you will want to use a more solid program for data involving historical option prices.

Retail Software

If you are stuck trying to find an option that works for your company, you can always go with retail software, or off-the-shelf programs. These are programs, such as Quickbooks, that can be found in office supply stores and online.

As you prepare to store data at your company, be sure you find software that works best for the type of data being stored.
